Principal Investigator
Prof. Zhou Ye
Dr. Zhou Ye is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, The University of Hong Kong (HKU).
Dr. Ye holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China and a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech in United States. Before joining HKU, Dr. Ye completed two postdoctoral trainings at the School of Dentistry of University of Minnesota and at the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of University of Notre Dame in USA.

Tianxiang Wu
Postdoctor (2024-）
I obtained my PhD. degree from the Department of Chemistry at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2022. Currently, I am conducting postdoctoral research at the Ye Lab. My research focus is on biosensing and bioanalysis, primarily utilizing clock reactions to achieve instrument-free quantitative colorimetric detection. The ultimate goal is to translate the research outcomes from the laboratory to benefit society. The hobby is playing mahjong, poker, basketball, and swimming.
Jie Yan
Postdoctor (2024-）
Jie Yan (Juliet) has received her PhD in Medical Sciences from University of South Australia in 2023. Her research focuses on the development of biomaterials for biomedical applications, which aims to identify new polymeric hydrogel biomaterials to provide novel properties. Jie is a cat lover and a Harry Potter fan. In her leisure time, she loves playing with her cat Pepper, solving rubik's cubes, reading, and cooking.
Jiawei Yang
Postdoctor (2024-)
Jiawei received her PhD in Biomaterials Science and Dental Technology at the University of Manchester in 2021 under Prof. David C. Watts and Prof. Nikolaos Silikas's supervision. Then she worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University from 2021 to 2024. Her research focuses on dental biomaterials and related biomedical applications. Jiawei enjoys playing guitar, watching movies, swimming and traveling.
Weiling Lu
Postdoctor (2024-）(Co-supervised with Prof. Tianshuo Zhao from HKU EEE)
Weiling received her PhD in Chemical Engineering and Technology from Nanjing University of Science & Technology in 2024. Her research interests include the design and biomedical applications of hydrogel biomaterials. Her hobbies are astronomy, graphic design and traveling.

Weilong Tang
Phd Student (2022-)
Weilong completed his M.S. in Dentistry at Wuhan University. His research interests broadly include developing biomaterials for translational medical and dental applications. In his spare time, Weilong enjoys cooking, travelling, and playing fingerstyle guitar.
Yuqi Ma
Phd Student (2022-)
She graduated from Northwestern Polytechnical University in 2021 with a bachelor degree of Polymer Materials and Engineering. Currently, she is working on hydrogel-based drug delivery system for oral treatment. She likes to play the violin and go sailing in my leisure time. And she is a member of HKU table tennis team.
Wener Chen

Chen Wener obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in stomatology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Her research focuses on the design of peptide hydrogels for periodontal diseases. Her future endeavours will focus on translation of biomaterials from bench to clinic. In spare time, she prefers traveling, listening music, and playing table tennis.
Huimin Chen

Huimin completed her master's degree at Nanjing Medical University. Currently, she is dedicated to researching the development of hydrogel-based microneedles for oral treatment. As a typical INST, she finds solace in indulging in leisure activities such as hiking and reading.
Jiarong Xu
Phd Student (2023-)
Jiarong obtained her M.S. in Dentistry at Nanchang University in June 2023. She is interested in the application of bioprinting in medicine, including the design of 3D scaffolds and the application of hydrogel materials. She loves music and photography. For her, going hiking on holidays is a preferred way to release pressure.
Wanting Qu

Wanting obtained her M.S. in Dentistry at Xi‘an Jiaotong University in 2023. She is interested in the application of nanoparticles and dissolvable microneedles for drug delivery. On holidays, she likes to travel, experience different things in life
Renglei Gan

Renglei graduated from Nanchang University. Her research interests are biomaterials and biosensors. She obtained her M.S. in Dentistry at Nanchang University in June 2023. And she gets a lot of spiritual support from JJ Lin.
Yuqi Wan
Phd Student (2024-)
Yuqi obtained her B.S. degree (Applied Chemistry) in 2021 from Wuhan Institute of Technology, and complete her M.S. in Chemistry at City University of Hong Kong. Her research interests include nanomaterials for water splitting, photocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction, biocompatible nanoscale organic frameworks for drug delivery. She enjoys playing the piano, jogging and painting in her spare time.
Xinliang Huang

Xinliang graduated from Wuhan University with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Master of Science in Stomatology. His research interests include smart drug delivery and its dental applications. He loves table tennis, swimming and cooking!
Yao Huang

Yao obtained her B.S. degree (Oral Medicine) in 2024 from Soochow University. She is interested in Organ on Chip model of cell mechanical signal interaction. In her spare time，she enjoys playing the piano，singing and travelling.

Shanyu completed his B.S. in Polymer Science and Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnical University. His research interests broadly encompass polymerization, biomaterials, and drug delivery. In his spare time, Shanyu enjoys watching anime, traveling, and playing table tennis.

Junhong Qiu is a current Master's degree student in Stomatology at Nanchang University, and she spent six months in 2023 at the University of Hong Kong as a visiting student.
